Charcos De Damajagua / Waterfalls + Local Village Experience
What your day looks like
Get ready for the thrill of a lifetime! At about 20 kilometers outside of Puerto Plata lies on of the best kept adventure secrets of the Dominican Republic. Nestled in the hills of the Northern Corridor lies a treasure you wont likely find anywhere else. Mother Nature has crafted breathtaking waterfalls, etched out of limestone, for your enjoyment. Pick up is made directly at your hotel in one of our comfortable 24 passenger trucks with experienced drivers and official tour guides. We arrive at the base camp at 9.00 AM, where our staff will start the security briefing. At the end of the briefing, for your safety, life jackets and helmets are provided. The use of the safety equipment is MANDATORY! Once geared up youll make your way to the 12th waterfall on our interpretive nature trail on which you will encounter hundreds of species of typical tropical flora and fauna. On our trek through the tropical forest, we make a few stops for you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, listen to the guides explanation and absorb the feeling that the lush vegetation gives. Upon arrival at the 12th waterfall, the adventure begins! You will return through each level by jumping, swimming and sliding down natural waterslides, following the expert instruction from our guides. Waterfalls like The Virgin, La Tinajita and The Corkscrew await you! After a good 2.5 hours of water sports fun, we finally arrive at the last fall, called The Virgin." Legend has it that the Taino Indians who inhabited the area built a statue of the Virgin Saint of the Dominican Republic, Altagracia. Unfortunately, the passage of time has completely destroyed any trace of their handy work. The beautiful waterfall, however, has survived.
