Puerto Plata Sightseeing and City Tour
What your day looks like
Puerto Plata is much more than paradisiacal beaches. Its historic center houses a set of buildings and houses in neoclassical and Victorian style dating from the late nineteenth century, as well as beautiful avenues full of shops, restaurants, and bars where you can have a good time. The cathedral and the fortress of San Felipe are two essential places to see in Puerto Plata. The latter was built in 1577 to defend the city from pirate attacks, here enjoy a visit to the street of umbrellas and also visit the chocolate factory, rum factory, and the pink street.

We had a group of 13, so took two vans. Guides were great!! Turns out they were twin brothers, which was funny because I was in one van and my twin sister in another! Did not feel rushed at all, had plenty of time at each stop. Would Highly recommend! And would for sure book again if ever in the area again.
If you are looking for the perfect way to experience Puerto Plata, look no further! This sightseeing and city tour was the absolute highlight of our trip, largely thanks to our wonderful guide, Mr. Tamares. He is a fantastic storyteller and gave us so much fascinating insight into the daily lives of the local citizens. We got to experience an amazing mix of culture, history, and local flavor all in one day. We visited a local farm for a look at rural life, toured a rum factory, learned the traditional art of making cigars, strolled down the vibrant and colorful Umbrella Street, and explored the rich history of the famous fort. The logistics were also flawless. We traveled in a very new private vehicle with great A/C, which was a lifesaver in the tropical heat. Best of all for fellow cruisers, the pacing was excellent and we were back to the ship with time to spare. This tour was so stress free. Highly, highly recommend Mr. Tamares and this tour to anyone visiting Puerto Plata!
The guide was very good. The stops were ok.
I recently took the Puerto Plata Sightseeing and City Tour with Project Expedition and it was fantastic. Our guide was incredibly helpful and attentive to our pace, letting us decide how fast or slow we wanted to explore. That flexibility made the experience even more enjoyable. The sights, the commentary, and the overall flow of the day were well organized yet still relaxed. It was the perfect balance between structure and freedom. I can’t wait to come back and do this tour again. Great job all around!
The tour guide was very professional, he picked us up in a nice vehicle, and showed us all around Puerto Plata. Highly recommend.
