Dominica Canyoning Adventure to Hidden Waterfalls and Cathedral Falls

Dominica’s rich, unspoiled landscape offers a natural playground of unending wonders to explore and equally exhilarating ways to journey to them. Canyoning, also known as canyoneering or waterfall rappelling, will take you on a fulfilling adventure that rewards every challenge with unimaginable views of the changing terrain. Take the path less traveled and descend striking rock structures to enter a magical, and seemingly entirely new, the world within the Nature Island. All are welcome, pro or novice, as no prior training or rappel/abseil experience is required. Gear up at our headquarters in the valley. You must complete a brief, training program of 15 minutes where you will learn to harness up and rappel down the side of a wall with the coaching of professional local guides. Then, hop into a vehicle for a 15-minute drive to the start of the Canyon Experience. Hike down through the rain forest to a secret waterfall that drops off into a hidden canyon far beneath the sunlit forest canopy. Spectacular, hidden waterfalls drop through a steep canyon that runs between Titou Gorge and the top of Trafalgar Falls. Peer over the top of the first rushing waterfall roaring into the shadowy abyss. You are harnessed in, and away you go. Your legs are braced against the waterfall wall as pure, freshwater cascades all around you. You let out the rope and slowly descend into a new world. Soft green light filters down the cliff walls of this hidden gorge to the deep, pristine pool waiting down below on the river. One guide pays out the second safety line and the other shouts encouragement from below. Touch down into the first of a series of incredible crystal-clear pools descending along the canyon bed. More waterfalls await you, ending up appropriately at the magnificent Cathedral Falls, complete with vaulted arched walls, a recessed altar alcove, and an enormous overhead 'pipe organ' of root masses. With a short hike out, thru the beautiful flora and fauna, you have left this secret world behind. Standing in the warm bright sunlight it almost seems like a dream.
