Stop 2 — Fruit Market & Estates Theatre Prague's oldest market, trading since the 13th century - and the theatre where Mozart's Don Giovanni had its world premiere in 1787. Our nightwatchman's opinion of Mozart's long-term career prospects has barely changed since. Stop 3 - Old Town Square & Jan Hus Monument The true, unvarnished story of 27 Protestant leaders publicly executed here on a single Tuesday in 1621. The crosses are still set into the cobblestones. Most tourists walk straight over them. Stop 4 - Medieval fire safety & beer regulations Why 17th-century Prague's fire safety rules somehow always involved mandatory beer - and what this tells us about life in a city built almost entirely of wood.
