Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

Your evening begins outside the Zagreb Cathedral, whose twin spires pierce the dusky sky in a stunning display of Neo-Gothic architecture. As twilight deepens, your local guide will share the story of how the city grew from two rival medieval towns — Kaptol and Gradec — into today’s thriving capital. Wandering into the Upper Town, you’ll feel the magic of Zagreb at night as the glow of lanterns reflects on cobblestone streets. Stroll along Tkalčićeva Street, the beating heart of local café culture, alive with laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses. At the Stone Gate, the last remaining entrance to the medieval city, flickering candles illuminate this centuries-old place of worship — a serene contrast to the lively atmosphere nearby. Continuing to St. Mark’s Square, you’ll admire the vivid tiled roof of St. Mark’s Church, glowing softly in the evening light as your guide explains the Croatian symbols depicted upon it. Nearby stands Lotrščak Tower, one of Zagreb’s oldest landmarks, where a cannon has been fired at noon every day since the 19th century. From here, a short walk brings you to the Strossmayer Promenade, one of the city’s most romantic viewpoints. As night falls, the panoramic view of the illuminated Lower Town stretches out below — a glittering sea of rooftops and streetlights. Descending into the Lower Town, you’ll pass elegant 19th-century boulevards and graceful façades built during the Austro-Hungarian era. The tour concludes in the heart of the city, where your guide will share insider recommendations for wine bars, restaurants, and cultural experiences, helping you make the most of your evening in Zagreb. Note: The Zagreb Funicular connecting the Upper and Lower Towns is currently closed for renovations until Spring 2026. Once reopened, the tour will include a funicular ride.
