Our guests review this tour as the most relaxed driving full day tour you can find in Dubrovnik without any borders to wait at, and without any traffic jams. Korcula Island – Birthplace of Marco Polo, The Dark Corfu, these are just some of the names of this beautiful island famous for its maritime history, high-quality limestone quarries, and shipbuilding, but also for its special handmade macaroni from the village of Zrnovo and the pride and joy of the island – white wine POSIP! Together with visiting Town of Korcula, you will enjoy a scenic ride by Peljesac Peninsula, stop in Medieval town of Ston and wine-tasting of famous Plavac wine.

Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

08:15 aam Our tour begins in the morning from Dubrovnik stopping at medieval city of Ston for coffee and short tour. City of Ston that is surrounded by 5.5 km long wall (second longest preserved wall in the world) that reaches from one sea to another creating man-made border and stand-off point for any intruders trying to invade the Peninsula of Peljesac. You can visit salt factory (13.ct) where production still takes place under natural conditions on the same principles it has been running continuously for more than 7 centuries. 10:00 - continuing through Peljesac peninsula all the way to the village of Orebic where we would board a boat line to take us to the town of Korcula. After docking just at the entrance of the Old City of Korcula, your guide would introduce you to its rich history, show you on the map its Venetian defensive architecture and 15. Ct. street layout and than you would enter the city through 18. ct Baroque South gate and walk to the center of the citadel to see the birth-house of Marco Polo and hear the story about this great explorer and his connections to Korcula and beautiful Cathedral of San Marco – with its tall bell tower looking like a mast of the great stone ship of Korcula when seen from far away. After the tour guests would have some free time for lunch. 15:00 we would catch the boat back to the mainland and continue through the wine country of Peljesac stopping at one of the local wineries to try the famous Peljesac red Plavac Mali wine. We would also cross through the tunnel of Dingač to the other side of Peljesac where Dingač vines grow at 60-degree inclined hills with spectacular scenes of Islands Mljet and Lastovo and fishing villages of Trstenik and Zuljana. 16:30 The number of photo stops possible on the way towards Dubrovnik (about 1:40 hours drive from Dingac hills).

Our tour guide was outstanding and knowledgeable! However, this tour completely missed the mark. It has too much driving and there were several stops we didn't enjoy. Ston is a town known for it's oysters. This should not be a morning stop for coffee. Only go to Ston in the afternoon and do oyster tasting. Korcula is gorgeous but a tour guide there is unneccesary. She was actually long winded. Wander the town, have lunch, or take an island tour (we wish we had more time). Lastly the winery was not a vineyard. While we enjoyed our wine and meeting the family, this was a small room with no views. We wanted a vineyard experience. It took hours to get back to Split. Do these places another way, preferably via boat.
