The Experience

What your day looks like

We organise a one-day trip from Split to Dubrovnik, and the excursion lasts for 12 hours. Our English-speaking guide will welcome you and travel with you. The drive from Split to Dubrovnik lasts a little over 3 hours, but in the meantime, you will have the chance to experience our beautiful coast, while our guide shares interesting details. The city of Dubrovnik is known all over the world as ‘’The Pearl of the Adriatic’’. More than a thousand years of history are visible in every part, as a living museum and a live stage that has an ideal connection between its historical past and modern present. It is surrounded by the medieval walls that are 1940 metres long and are preserved in their original form. They are open to visitors and are the city’s greatest attraction. The town has been under the protection of UNESCO since 1979. Upon arrival, we will meet with a local guide who will give you an hour-long tour in which he will incorporate all the marvels that Dubrovnik has to offer. What will you have the opportunity to see and do? The most famous part of Dubrovnik is its medieval walls, which you can climb and take postcard-worthy pictures. Moreover, the guide will show you Stradun (the main street in the city), Orlando’s pillar (used for proclamations and punishments), the Gothic Renaissance palace of Sponza that dates back to the 16th century and is currently used for the National Archives, the celebrated Rector’s Palace as well as the famous church and monastery. Dubrovnik holds, without a doubt, a special position in Croatia’s cultural heritage. After a guided tour, you will have 3 hours of free time to explore the city on your own and just sink in all the vibrant energy that this marvellous city has to offer. You can take magnificent pictures, or you can get lost in the small and secluded streets that will make you feel like you stepped into a different era. For a meal, we recommend the Ston oysters and mussels, which are considered to be some of the tastiest and finest shellfish in the Adriatic. Aside from lamb and veal cooked in embers under an iron bell, this region’s gastronomic chapter consists of eel and frog stew from the Neretva valley. Maybe more than anywhere else on the coast, the Dubrovnik region offers special sweet pastries, where the most famous are Rožata and Kotonjata, as well as the Mantalata and Arancina cakes. All this should be accompanied by top-quality wines such as Dingač and Postup from Pelješac, Pošip and Grk from Korčula, as well as Dubrovnik’s malvasia from Konavle. You meet with your local guide at 4 pm and head back to Split.
