Dubrovnik Old Town Walking Tour
What your day looks like
You’ve heard so much about the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” and now you’re finally here, ready to soak up its glorious history, admire its mighty defensive walls, and discover how locals live within them. Our experienced guide will reveal all its secrets! Because this tour lasts only an hour and a half and does not include a walk around the City Walls, it involves minimal stairs and is an easy walk for everyone, even on a hot day. It covers all the main attractions and key topics of Dubrovnik Old Town.
The experience, in brief
- Explore Dubrovnik Old Town, a UNESCOlisted medieval gem
- See Onofrio’s Fountain and Dubrovnik Cathedral
- Walk Stradun and visit Luža Square
The journey, in full
The tour will start from the central point – Brsalje Square – with a brief introduction, showing you sights outside Dubrovnik’s walls, including the fortresses Minčeta, Bokar, and Lovrijenac, before entering the town through Pile Gate. After entering Dubrovnik Old Town, you will learn about life in the Republic of Ragusa, see the Great Onofrio Fountain, which was the main source of drinking water until the early 20th century, and discover how Franciscans advanced medicine at the oldest functioning pharmacy in the Franciscan Monastery. You will also walk along side streets toward Dubrovnik Cathedral, and your guide will point out filming locations from Game of Thrones, Robin Hood, and Star Wars. At Old Town Port, you will see how the modern fleet has taken over from the traditional wooden galleys that still sail today. The walk will finish at Luža Square, where you will learn about the Rector’s Palace, Sponza Palace, and St. Blaise Church. From here, you can continue along the main street Stradun on your own.

What travelers are saying
We did a relatively short excursion walking and learning about just the Old Town. Our tour guide was informative about the ancient and more recent history of Dubrovnik, which was quite interesting. But she moved rather slowly and spoke in more detail than necessary about a things. So overall we felt like we could have covered more areas of the Old Town and learned 50% more info in the same amount of time if she had just moved a bit faster and picked more topics to tell us about. Overall, the tour was fine and our tour guide was nice and her English was excellent. Just could have covered more.
The day we visited Dubrovnik was very crowded so it really helped to have a tour guide show us key points of interest.
