Bosnia Food & Wine Tour from Dubrovnik

The journey, in full

2:00 PM - Departing Dubrovnik we arrive at the border to Bosnia in 20 min time, after short drive overlooking the islands in front of Dubrovnik. 3:00 PM - After the border we continue driving through the Friar’s field, and we reach the city of Trebinje. For starters, we would drive up to the top of the hill above Trebinje for great panoramic views of the city so that our guide can explain you about the geography of the area and show you all the spots that we would visit during the tour. Possibly we can visit the Orthodox monastery of Gracanica standing at the top of the hill. 3:30 PM - We will drive next 5 km away to the 15ct Orthodox monastery of Tvrdos where monks have been producing wine for centuries until they blew up the monastery when it was about to be taken by the Ottomans in 18ct. We will visit their ancient cellars and taste some of their best white and red wine while your guide will explain you about the wine and the current hard working monk lifestyle. 4:45 PM - After tasting monk’s wine, it is time to visit a small restaurant at Trebisnjica river in center of Trebinje. Enjoy locally brewed beer or domestic wine paired with homemade bread, cheese, and prosciutto. 5:45 PM - Finally, we will continue to family restaurant for a 2 course dinner. Selection of meat, fish or vegetarian dished are available with drinks. 7:25 PM - After dinner, we will be driving back to Dubrovnik (around 35 min drive with possible border stop of 5-30 min) and you will be back in the hotel/apartment, right after the sunset.
