What your day looks like
The unique topography and the excellent climate makes for exceptional birding all year round in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Any bird watching tour to Costa Rica, should include the area surrounding the Arenal Volcano.The foothills of the majestic stratovolcano and the surrounding areas of Lake Arenal provide an extremely diverse ecosystem. Lake Arenal is the largest and the most important lake in Costa Rica, it was man-made in 1974 to provide hydroelectric energy for the country. It is also an exceptional spot where you can find different kinds of resident and migratory birds. Of the 900 confirmed bird species that inhabit Costa Rica, 340 of them can be found in the rich surroundings of the Arenal Volcano area. Experience the impressive concert of birdsong at dusk from the comfort of your boat sailing on Lake Arenal.

The journey, in full
This tour will begin in the afternoon, when the day is about to cool down and wildlife emerges from their hiding places. From the comfort of one of our boots and accompanied by an expert naturalist guide, you will be able to witness a spectacular display of exotic birds. If you are passionate about bird watching, you should give yourself the opportunity to see toucans, parrots, orioles, colorful tanagers and parakeets in their natural state and habitat. Your guide will also look for royal flycatchers, white-fronted nuns, cinnamon woodpeckers, different species of herons, and other less common species. This tour provides an incredible opportunity to witness stunning views of the Arenal Volcano, Lake Arenal combined with sublime bird watching, all during a relaxed 2 hour boat ride. If we are lucky, we can even get to see the sky illuminated at sunset and a spectacular view of the colossal volcano.
