The Experience
What your day looks like
This Kayak trip begin at low tide as the waves go to one side of the Tombolo or better known as the Whale’s Tail, which is one of the best spot for snorkeling in Costa Rica and at the Ballena Marine National Park. You will paddle to this point for 30 to 45 minutes , depending on your experience. While paddling to one of the best Costa Rican reefs, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the mountains and the coast of Costa Ballena and Uvita. As soon we arrive to the reefs, your guide will give you the instructions to start the Snorkeling session that lasts about 40 minutes to an hour and a half, where you will be able to see a lot of fish and coral species. Then we continue with a kayak-surfing session in the shore of the Whale’s Tail as the tide rises (optional). This is fun and suitable for all types of people. Then as we reach the beach, the tide allows the kayaks to enter in and small mangrove forest protected by the Ballena Marine Park where it is possible to see some sea birds, toucans and some small size reptiles. During paddling in the channels of the Mangrove the tranquility and beauty of this ecosystem will charm you. At the end of the Kayak Tour the guides will share some fruit and refreshments on the beach. NOTE: This tour is only available at low tide. Please consult us the start time for the date you request the reservation. During rainy months(July-November late) the visibility of the water can be poor. Most people can take this tour but is better to have a good physical condition.

I was the only one who booked on this particular day and I was so grateful that they didn't cancel the tour. I got a 1:1 tour from Amman, who was knowledgeable about the local plant and animal life and was so kind and hospitable. The water was clear on the afternoon went out and we got to see some tropical fish. We also took a detour to the whale tail to take a break on our way back since I get seasick in an un-moving kayak :D. We landed back at the park entrance just in time for a beautiful sunset.
