The Experience

What your day looks like

This tour starts in Playa Herradura. Ashuma is ready to set sail. Completely relax or lend a hand, it's up to you. She is fast, stable and loaded with comfortable space featuring trampolines and a large cockpit. You charter Ashuma by the hour, so every tour is private and catered to you. You control the ambiance, and you control the guest list. The snorkeling equipment is on board and a fishing rod is available. Snacks and refreshments are provided. Dolphins and whales often join the tour! When the water is clear the snorkeling is beautiful.

Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

TRIMARAN ASHUMA Ashuma is a 25 ft Jim Brown designed Trimaran. That means it has 3 hulls, a catamaran has 2 hulls. The advantage is, that in this size range, Ashuma is wider than a catamaran and has more space. Ashuma is 16ft wide and has a large center cockpit that can sit 6 people. The cockpit is surrounded by nets that are wonderfully comfortable and great for walking around and stretching out on. Ashuma has a 9.9, 4 stroke engine for auxiliary power. Equipment storage is in the inside of the "amas” or stabilizing outer hulls. Leaving the decks clear for relaxation and moving around. There is an emergency "porta potty” in the front cabin. And a Bimini top that ensures shade over the cockpit. The stabilizing "amas" mean that Ashuma does not heal over and always stays relatively level. Ashuma charters PRIVATE tour only. That means that every tour is catered to our clients’ desires. There is no set itinerary, but there are some usual options. Sailing tours differ from motorboat tours in that one can just go "sailing". Conversations can be held as there is no engine to scream over. Also, while we can get near a beach and people can swim to shore it is usually more comfortable to stretch out on Ashuma and enjoy sailing as one can just drive to a beach. 1/3 Clients are told that this tour is like their own picnic, they can help themselves, there is always a variety of easy to eat fruit for clients to just take and eat if they so desire. Apples, tangerines, grapes etc. The fresh fruit platter is prepared on board at the time it is served, nothing is precut or prepared in advance. There is a bluetooth speaker on board for clients to play their own music at their own desired volume. The 2-hour tour includes chips and salsa (our famous sailors’ salsa) and fresh fruit platter. also, beer, coke, ginger ale, fanta, and water. (there is enough, and we do not count or limit consumption, although getting drunk is not acceptable) during a 2-hour tour if snorkeling is on the client’s agenda it can only be done in Herradura bay. Or a nice sail out to the ocean and back. The 3-hour tour, we add cheese, salami and crackers served on a slate charcutier board. We usually ask the clients before food is prepared and often clients have enough with only chips and salsa or the cheese and crackers, but we are always ready to serve both. During this tour we will have time for a nice sail to the bay just north of Herradura where we can anchor and snorkel if conditions permit. We can have time for about 45 min of snorkeling. or swimming. The 4-hour tour serves the same as the 3-hour tour, but both the cheese and salami and chips and salsa are served along with the fruit platter. During the 4 hours tour the itinerary is like the 3-hour tour but much more relaxed, and if the client wants to and conditions permit, we can get close to a beach so the clients can swim to shore. Playa Coyol is marketed by some tour operators as Playa Fantasia, it is a very pretty spot and virtually no development can be seen from there. 3-4 hours is the recommended tour length, not all clients are accustomed to spending so much time on the water and out in the sun.
