Be amazed as you head to a region where brine deposits have created a natural network of reflective mirrors. A place that captivates for its authenticity is the Nemocón Salt Mine, which is reached in thirty minutes from Zipaquirá. There, 80 m underground, travelers travel 1,600 m of tunnels through which between 1816 and 1968 approximately eight million tons of salt were extracted. The 28 brine mirrors, in which the salt rocks were dissolved, produce an impressive optical effect. In the chamber of the Chapel, there is a huge 1,300 kilogram stone sphere that symbolizes the world. Another attraction of great importance is the 1,600-kilogram salt crystal, carved in the shape of a heart in the 60's by the miner Miguel Sánchez. Stalactites and stalagmites are seen along the way and there is even an ecological trail, an auditorium, and a geology room. You will know the curiosities about the Nemocón salt mines and you will discover that the salt extraction industry dates back to 400 BC in this region of the world. You will see the filming location of the movie “Los 33”, which details the collapse in 2010 of a copper and gold mine in Chile, starring Antonio Banderas. We left Nemocón and arrived at the restaurant around 6:00 p.m. After a little sightseeing, it is time to enjoy a good meal and dance to the music in the famous Andrés Carne de Res Restaurant in Chía which was founded in June 1982, over the years it became an Atypical restaurant for its decoration the hanging objects, the picturesque illustrations, and the myths and stories that have emerged around it.
