Let’s just start by saying that Colombia has the greatest avian biodiversity in the world because 20% of all bird species on earth can be found here, that is exactly 1,889 species, besides the 197 species of migratory birds that are temporary residents. What we love about this place is that it doesn’t feel like a zoo. Many kinds of birds are actually free, and large-scale walk-in cages allow close contact with the birds. This makes the aviary unique. On this tour, you will go to a very important and special place, the National Aviary of Colombia. This is a conservation organization that simulates 4 different ecosystems. Most importantly, they are highly interested in species preservation; therefore, they promote knowledge about Colombian diversity, its sustainable use, and its responsible management through the use of animal welfare practices.
