The Experience

What your day looks like

What if you could see a side of Bogotá that the guidebooks won't show you? Just steps away from the bustling Plaza de Bolívar and El Chorro de Quevedo—the birthplace of the city—lies a neighborhood that holds some of Bogotá's most powerful secrets. Here, history comes alive on the streets rather than in a museum. On this exclusive, private tour, you will gain access to a community that most travelers never see. This isn't about seeking danger; it's about finding hope and resilience where you least expect it.

Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

Begin your journey at Chorro de Quevedo in La Candelaria, the birthplace of Bogotá. Meet your guide and learn about the remarkable Breaking Borders initiative. Wander through streets where captivating murals tell the story of Egypt's transformation from a dangerous past to a hopeful future, thanks to the power of tourism. Hear inspiring stories of how former gang members are reshaping their lives and their community. You’ll meet your guide at Chorro Quevedo in La Candelaria, the founding place of Bogotá. There, you will learn about the project before heading to Nuestra Señora de Egipto, the church located at the entrance of Barrio Egipto. This is also the scene for the festivities on the 6th of January. All along the way, you will be able to see the history of the people illustrated in impressive graffiti art. Your guide will let you in on the meanings and stories behind these murals. Climb the hills of Egipto and explore a community that, despite ongoing challenges, is rich in culture and hope. Visit the Iglesia de Egipto and the new community football field, a symbol of the neighborhood's progress and commitment to its youth. Discover how this field plays a vital role in transforming the area's social fabric.
