Welcome to China! Meet your tour guide in the lobby of your Guilin hotel, hop on your private air-conditioned vehicle, and embark upon your customized tour of the city’s sights. City/Town Tour at Elephant Trunk Hill. Elephant Trunk Hill Then, set off and explore. Typically, you will start with the Elephant Trunk Hill. Elephant Trunk Hill is the landmark of Guilin. It has been a famous tourist destination since the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). The hill looks like a giant elephant drinking water from the river.

Sightseeing. Puxian Tower Enjoy a vigorous walk to the top, and visit the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) Puxian Tower which was built to worship Samantabahdra. Get to learn its history from your tour guide, then enjoy the panoramic views of the city, Li River, and surrounding scenery.

Local Flavor. Yunfeng Temple Continue to Yunfeng Temple-one of the famous ancient temples of Guilin. Which was the dwelling place of Monk Jianzhen, an eminent monk of the Tang Dynasty, crossing over to Japan six times to spread Buddhist doctrines and help regularize monks’ behavior. Stroll around the temple and the exhibition gallery on the second floor.

Sightseeing. Fubo Hill Continue to Guilin Fubo Hill. Fubo Hill stands next to the Li River and rises abruptly out of the surrounding landscape, it is famous for both natural beauty and historic art. Follow your tour guide to explore the etchings of Buddha dating back to the Song and Tang Dynasties (618 – 1279) at Thousand-Buddha Cave and Pearl-Returning Cave. Admire the Sword-Testing Rock and get to know the legendary stories behind it.

Hiking at Reed Flute Cave. Reed Flute Cave (Ludi Yan) Afterward, heading to Reed Flute Cave. Over millions of years, dripping water has eroded the cave to create a special world of various stalactites, stone pillars, and rock formations. Explore important spots in the attraction such as the tower-shaped PinCrystalal Palace, etc. Despite the fantastic natural scenery inside Reed Flute Cave, there are many writings on the wall. There are 77 travelogues and poems left, which are derived from the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Then, enjoy lunch in the local restaurant.

Eco Tour. Seven Star Park In the afternoon, you will stroll around the Seven Stars Park. The Seven Stars Park is endowed with elegant mountains, clear water, a miraculous stone forest, deep and serene valleys, plentiful animals and plants, and valued cultural relics. It has been popular since the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) Dynasties. Crosse the Flower Bridge was built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and it is the oldest bridge in Guilin.

Eco Tour at Mount Putuo. Putuo Mountain Explore the Putuo Mountain, where Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is worshiped, it abounds with caves and pavilions. On the top of the mountain, there are Putuo Stone Forest, Xuanwu Pavilion and Zhaixing Pavilion. In addition, there are numerous valuable tablets on the mountain. You can choose how far you want to go. After the tour finished, you will be transferred to your hotel in Guilin.

Day 2

Boating at Li River. Li River Your private English-speaking guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel’s lobby at 8:00 am and you will be transferred to Zhujiang Pier, where you will embark and start the boat cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo County. The Li River Cruise is considered the highlight of any visit to Guilin. Along the river, enjoy breathtaking views of peaks and pinnacles, crystal-clear water, and picturesque pastoral countryside scenery. The river generally has three sections. Various attractions like peaks and villages along the river have interesting descriptive names, which call for much of your imagination to see what it is like. Listening to tour guide’s legendary stories about the attractions is a delightful experience when you are appreciating the landscapes. Most are mystical fairy and love stories. The cruise usually takes around 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on the water conditions. Li River takes a big turn at Xingping and is endowed with beautiful and poetic scenery. It has been reproduced in many Chinese landscape paintings. Even the newly-issued 20 RMB note has the scenery on its back. A photographer once said: ‘Shots from any perspective for this place turn out to be impressive and stunning’. You will enjoy a simple lunch on the boat.

City/Town Tour. West Street Arrive at Yangshuo at 1:30 pm, stroll around West Street with your tour guide, and explore various shops, craft-works shops, painting and calligraphy stores, backpack shops, and cafes, your tour guide will help you to negotiate prices if you want to purchase any souvenir. In the afternoon, you will explore the Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo. Sauntering down a country road makes you feel like you are traveling in a painting. This is true of the Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo County, a fairyland on earth. As the name implies, Ten-Mile Gallery is a picturesque road stretching from the Yangshuo town area to Moon Hill, endowed with rolling hills, endless fields, idyllic villages, and clear rivers on both sides. Along Ten-Mile Gallery, there are a few famous sites you should not miss, such as Butterfly Spring Park. In the park, peculiar peaks, grotesque rocks, magnificent waterfalls, and bubbling springs can be found everywhere. A winding path meanders to the sightseeing terrace where you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Ten-Mile Gallery. As the journey of the Ten-Mile Gallery goes on, you will encounter a Big Banyan Tree, which is more than 1,400 years old. Follow your tour guide to stroll around, get to know the love story about Liusanjie, and see how new lovers come here to make wishes for their future. Your last stop is Moon Hill, let your tour guide know if you want to stop to take photos. After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel in Yangshuo.

Getting there Meet your tour guide in the lobby of your Yangshuo hotel, hop on your private air-conditioned vehicle, heading directly to Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces which takes about 2 hours, sit back and enjoy the sceneries along the way.

Local Flavor at Longsheng Rice Terraces. Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces The construction of the incredible Longji Rice Terraces started in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and lasted till the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is reputed as one of the most beautiful rice terraces in the world. Among them, two main and representative viewing areas are the Ping’an Zhuang Village Terraced Fields and the Jinkeng Terraced Fields where Zhuang and Yao Minority people have been living respectively for hundreds of years. Your first stop is Huangluo Long Hair Village and enjoy an amazing long hair show. Huangluo village in Guthe Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is home to descendants of the Yao ethnicity. The women here are characterized by their red embroidered dress and their long hair, which is long enough to have their home recognized as the “world’s longest hair village” by Guinness World Records. The long hair that women of the Yao ethnic group have kept for generations is a symbol of auspiciousness. You will have lunch in the local village.

Sightseeing. Dazhai During lunch, discuss with your tour guide the routine that interests you most, then set off and explore. Typically you will start with the Jinkeng/Dazhai Rice Terrace. There are three popular viewpoints at Dazhai: Music from Paradise, Thousand Layers to the Heavens, and Golden Buddha Peak. You will drive 40 minutes to Dazhai(Hongyao Jinkeng)Rice Terrace. Take the convenient cable car for about 20 minutes directly to Golden Buddha Peak. During the cable car ride, you will enjoy the amazing view of the No. 3 sightseeing zone. Upon arrival, follow your tour guide and take an easy walk around to snap photos from different locations which will give you an unexpected shot. You will take your time whenvisitingt the locations where you may explore and create fantastic photographs. After the tour, you will descend by cable car. After the tour, you can choose to end your tour in Longsheng or return to Guilin.

Hiking. Ping’an Village The second option for this tour is to visit Ping’an Rice Terrace after lunch. You will drive 30 minutes to Ping’an village. Follow your tour guide to hike and explore. Compared with Dazhai Rice Terrace, Ping’an village is smaller in scale, it is still considered very beautiful and offers undulating and intricate scenery that lives up to the name of “dragon’s spine.” You will explore two famous scenic spots – West Hill Music the No.1 viewing platform, and Large-scale Thousand-Layer Terraces, the No.2 viewing platform.
