Punta Arenas – Meeting Point & Check-In Meet your group at José Nogueira 1255 in Punta Arenas for check-in before departing on an unforgettable excursion through the historic Strait of Magellan. Strait of Magellan – Scenic Navigation Board the vessel and enjoy a scenic navigation through the legendary Strait of Magellan. During the approximately 40-minute journey, take in views of Patagonia’s rugged coastline and learn about the region’s maritime history and unique ecosystems. Magdalena Island – Penguin Colony Arrive at Magdalena Island, located 32 kilometers northeast of Punta Arenas and part of the protected Los Pingüinos Natural Monument. This important wildlife sanctuary is home to more than 60,000 breeding pairs of Magellanic penguins that return each year to nest and raise their young. Magdalena Island – Wildlife Observation Walk Enjoy approximately one hour ashore to walk along designated pathways through the colony. Observe Magellanic penguins in their natural habitat and look for other bird species that inhabit the island, including cormorants and kelp gulls.
