Stanley Park Salish Sea & Me Eco Tour
What your day looks like
Let’s celebrate the many life-giving attributes and rich resources the ocean has provided Coast Salish peoples since time immemorial. The Salish Sea has long been a source of nourishment, travel, trade, and spiritual connection, sustaining communities through its abundant waters, shorelines, and ecosystems. From salmon and shellfish to cedar and seaweed, the ocean has supported not only physical survival but also stories, ceremonies, and teachings passed down through generations. This deep relationship reflects respect, balance, and responsibility to care for the waters that continue to give life to people and place. Coast Salish peoples have shared a profound and enduring connection with the Salish Sea for thousands of years, shaping a rich culture, identity, and way of life rooted in reciprocity with nature. By honoring and uplifting Indigenous values, knowledge, and practices, we strengthen pathways toward environmental stewardship, climate resilience, and meaningful reconciliation. Embracing these perspectives invites all of us to care for the ocean with greater awareness, ensuring its health and vitality for future generations while recognizing the wisdom of those who have protected it since time immemorial.
