Meet your friendly local guide outside Uncommon Grounds Café in the Halifax Public Gardens to begin the tour. Start with a peaceful walk through the Halifax Public Gardens—one of North America’s finest surviving Victorian gardens. Founded in 1836 by the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society and a National Historic Site since 1984, enjoy the stunning floral displays and calm atmosphere. Next, pass the historic Camp Hill Cemetery, The Halifax Common (Canada’s oldest urban park), and Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre. Continue past the Citadel National Historic Site (founded on a hill in 1749 by the British), then walk by the Halifax Clock Tower, City Hall, and St. Paul’s Anglican Church. After that, head to the Halifax Waterfront, featuring one of the world’s longest urban boardwalks (4 km / 2.5 miles). Stroll along the bustling area, passing the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Discovery Centre, and many restaurants and shops. The tour ends at The Canadian Immigration Museum at Pier 21. Feel free to explore the museum independently or keep wandering the boardwalk, enjoying any restaurants or shops that catch your eye.
