What travelers are saying
Kate was an organized guide but she talked WAY too fast and didn't engage with the group. At the Japanese restaurant, we were given deliciously spicy food but with no beverages. And then again at the vegan restaurant, we were given delicious spicy (but messy) cauliflower but with no beverage. Plus we had to stand around and eat it outside the restaurant while the place was completely empty with plenty of available chairs. She said at the beginning that we could ask her for Vancouver tips but as soon as the tour was over she took off quickly, and I could see her counting her tips as she walked away. Overall the tour had good food but it often wasn't connected well to an understanding of Vancouver, which is the point of a food tour. Also, it is really important for the guides to warn about Gastown's surrounding area -- we walked a few blocks and found ourselves in a very unsafe area where unhoused people were actively injecting and smoking drugs. This tour has potential but it needs some tweaks and a better guide.
