The Experience

What your day looks like

We will experience the universe of tea from all angles. Montreal has some of the most unique and notorious tea businesses in the world! Enter the universe of tea. From its history to its current reality, we will experience it from all angles, tasting as we go. Visits to two retailers, a top tea importer, a tea school, and two tea rooms. Be prepared to be active on this tour as we will be walking 3.3 KMs. (2 miles) For private groups, we can arrange transportation. You will be served a substantial amount of food in the second half of the tour. We can accommodate all food restrictions on this tour. As tea is an appetite stimulant it is recommended you do not start on an empty stomach, but you will likely finish the tour full! We finish the tour very far away from the beginning so we recommend taxis or public transportation to and from the tour.

Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

We start out at a Chinese pharmacy and tea shop to discuss tea's historical roots and journey through time and around the world. We do some tasting here. Next, we have a tea making and tasting course 101 at a tea sommelier school that belongs to one of the top tea importers and educators in the world. Next we move to a tea room that changes based on the day. We then go to a Japanese tea room for food and an elaborate Japanese and tea tasting with much learning in a truly unique tea room. We finish at a colonial-style tea room for High Tea with the tiered plates and some classic British tea. This room is also hidden and very unique.

Before You Go

What to know before booking

What to Bring

You should bring with you a camera and a small bottle of water When it’s really hot out, we recommend an application of sunscreen on exposed parts of the body and a lightweight pair of sunglasses During the cooler seasons, it’s important to wear an extra layer of clothing and consider bringing gloves If it looks like rain we can provide you with a plastic rain poncho Since every tour involves moving to several locations wearing comfortable footwear is highly recommended

Restrictions

This tour is not recommended for Children under 12 yrs or pregnant women as many of the teas contain caffeine. Be prepared to be active on this tour as we will be walking 2 miles (3.3 KM) on this tour, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear for lots of walking. While we do not recommend the tea tour for children- children over 12 can come on this tour- but their chaperones need to supervise the teas the children consume as to be wary of their caffeine intake.
