Today, you will join a group tour and your guide start to pick up from a few different hotels, so the pickup time is variable between 7:40 am to 8:20 am, so guests are advised to wait in the hotel lobby and ready to go as soon as your guide arrives and we will stop at the National Park ticket office for you to buy entrance ticket for those who do not have one yet. We will start this day by driving 35km north of Siem Reap to the magnificent Banteay Srei temple - the Citadel of women. This is a small Hindu temple, dating back to the 10th century, has three central towers each decorated with superbly intricate reliefs of male and female divinities, carved from pink sandstone contrasting with the main walls made of laterite. While many of Angkor temples are impressive because of their sheer size, Banteay Srei stands out by the quality of craftsmanship on pinkish sandstone. On the way back, we will drive through many local villages including Preah Dak Village. It is a famous and popular place for souvenirs such as objects and arts. Visitors can discover beautiful places and natural life mixed with souvenirs shops with most things are handmade by villagers from surrounding Angkor National Park. Afternoon, we continue to visit the East Mebon, a temple with five towers standing on a small island in the middle of the artificial lake of the Easter Baray (7 km by 1.8 km), the East Mebon was formerly only accessible by boat. Today, the Baray, once a source of water for irrigation fed by the Siem Reap River, is dry and the temple stands now in a plain of rice fields. Our next stop will be Prasat Neak Pean. It is a small temple with a collection of five ponds representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake Anaavatapta from Hindu mythology. We will also visit Preah Khan, a labyrinth of pavilions, halls, and chapels in a vast area enclose by four walls before heading back to town.
