The journey, in full
The tour departs from Sarajevo’s Old Town, where we set the historical context before heading to the Yellow Fortress for panoramic views of the city and an introduction to its strategic importance. We continue to the Kovači Cemetery, honoring those who defended Sarajevo during the 1992–1995 siege, before visiting Markale Market and the Memorial for Children Killed in Sarajevo, powerful reminders of civilian life and loss during the war. The route then passes the Olympic complex and stadium from the 1984 Winter Olympics, followed by a drive through Sniper Alley, one of the most dangerous areas during the siege. We visit the Tunnel of Hope, the vital lifeline that connected besieged Sarajevo to the outside world, and cross the entity line to discuss the Dayton Peace Agreement and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s post-war political structure. The tour continues to Trebević Mountain, where the abandoned Olympic bobsleigh track tells a story of both conflict and resilience, before returning to the city center.
