Mopan River Kayaking
What your day looks like
A 20-minute drive will take us to the starting point which is located near the Guatemala border. The guide will give a thorough instructional session in kayaking techniques. We use sit on top Kayaks which you don’t need any experience in kayaking for. Then we will kayak for 6 miles down the river which can take us from 2 hours to 2.5 hours. On our way down the Mopan River, we will encounter numerous easy rapids, which vary from class 1 to 2. We also have the opportunity to learn to surf the waves, make eddy turns, use the kayak as a paddle board and etc. You will also have the opportunity to stop and swim in the river. As we continue down the river where it is less populated, we can see different types of birds, iguanas, howler monkey, different types of plants and trees. once we get to the pickup point you can have a refreshing swim or just enjoy your snack and rum punch by the river. What travelers are saying
Very nice kayak trip with Selwyn. The river is fairly calm, with a few fun little rapids, but nothing too serious. We saw lots of birds and quite a few iguanas. Would recommend to anyone who wants to experience the beautiful nature Belize has to offer.
The booking procedure was challenging but the tour itself is excellent. Really fun with just enough small rapids to call it an adventure and our guide was patient and knowledgable. He took the time to point out lots of wildlife that we might have missed without his help.
Great guide , awesome rapids- a wonderful time!
