Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

We start in Ostend, known as "The Queen of the North Sea." In the 19th century, during the reign of King Leopold II, it was the most important and trendy seaside resort for wealthy and noble families. Admire the "Belle Epoque" houses, and enjoy a wonderful walk through the "Venetian Galleries" along the promenade with a view of the sea, heading towards the "Hippodrome" race track, the Royal Villa, and the Casino. We continue to the old Fishermen's Port, where you can taste some delicacies from the North Sea. Next, we visit St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, built in commemoration of Belgium’s first queen, Louise Marie d'Orléans, who spent the final years of her life in Ostend and passed away here (we can also visit her royal residence). Optionally, we can visit the historical three-masted sailing ship "Mercator," built in Scotland under the guidance of polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache. After a short break, we continue to De Haan, a historic residential villa resort along the coast, known for its strict building regulations that prevent any structures over four floors. Enjoy a stroll through its romantic, charming lanes and dunes, lined with "Belle Epoque" houses, including Villa Savoyarde, which was Albert Einstein’s residence for several months. We then head toward the Port of Zeebrugge, continuing to Knokke, the most exclusive and luxurious resort on the Belgian coast, famous for its art galleries, casino, and luxury boutiques. On our way to the Nature Reserve "The Zwin," we will make a brief stop at the small white Dominican church. Lastly, we’ll stop at "Moeder Siska," the fabulous waffle house founded in 1832, where they make what are arguably the most delicious waffles on the continent! At "The Zwin," enjoy a walk through the nature reserve, governed by the rhythm of the tides, with its exceptional wildlife and permanent interactive exhibition center. This marks the end of an interesting and enriching day!
