Antwerp Beer Tour

The journey, in full

You will meet up with your guide at Groenplaats next to the Statue of Pieter Paul Rubens at 2PM. Antwerp is a city, very different from other cities in Belgium. The port dominates the city, but the old town is still the same : Our Lady Catherdal, Main Square with Brabo statue and the fortress Steen are the main sites.The name Peter Paul Rubens referres to one of the greatest barok painters of the world with masterpieces like the Decent from the Cross. Also very famous are the diamonds : cut in Antwerp guarantees quallity. We will start with an historical overview of Antwerp and it's cathedral and head then to the Main Square to have a taste at Antwerp's most famous beer and bar : De Coninck. The beer taste like no other beer in Belgium with it's creamy head and malt and spices flavours. From there we will discover the unknown part of the city with the old Meathalls, Red Light District, Port. We will visit one of the traditional bars where the dock workers join join after work and from where you see most of the port, the docs and harbor installations. After the second beer we will follow the river Scheldt with its fortress Steen back to the main square for a geneva tasting with a selection of small taps of local street food dishes. Geneva gin has to be served ice cold and is comparable iwth the German schapps. The rest of the tour we will stay around the Main Square where we will visit the oldest braun cafés where the music is still the same like into the 70thies : Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple are no strangers anymore. We will drink 3 more beers untill the end of the tour. The you can ask yourself the question : what are going to do? Drink more beers and meet up with the locals or leave.
