Rum is also known as "run bullion and kill devil" was invented in Barbados. Therefore Barbados is known as the birthplace of Rum. On this tour, we will share with you the story of rum visiting St. Nicholas Abbey a plantation house built in the 17th century. The plantation produces award-winning rum and they are always delighted to offer you a sample. You will tour the plantation house, the gardens, rum distillery and take a ride on the heritage railway a restored old steam engine. After a morning of discovery, we will stop for lunch before making a brief stop in the scenic coastal settlement of Bathsheba before making our way to the Mount Gay visitor center, where you will learn the history of rum and be taken through a fun-filled tasting session conducted by the Mount Gay Rum Tour guides who will guide you and your taste buds through the signature flavors, aromas and subtle nuances of the various rums they produce.

Your tour is not confirmed until your accommodation details are provided. Because we are unaware of where these pick-ups will be at the time of your booking, we will give you a wide window of time for your pick-up. On the afternoon before your tour, we will contact you by email to provide you with a more accurate pick-up time within the window provided to you at this time. YOUR PICK-UP WINDOW IS: 8:00-10am Please note you will be contacted the day before your tour with you exact pick up time. If you are not contacted please call 246 231-2932 to reconfirm your pick up time as times can sometimes change due to pick up schedules for the day. Please note the following: It is vital to be on time for your tour, please be ready and waiting in the lobby of your hotel. Our guides can only wait a maximum of 5 minutes for you if you are late. If you have not already done so please provide us with your room number, if you have not yet checked in to your resort please email us at reservations@barbadostoursandexcursions.com after you have and provide the number. This will make your pick up process run efficiently. If you are not staying at a hotel please provide the location pin and a contact number that you can be reached at during your stay. Our guides can contact you on whatsapp so if you have a whatsapp number that is best. As your tour includes Harrisons Cave it is imperative that you visit their website and complete their waiver before the day of the tour. If you do not do this you will not be able to enter the cave. The wait time can be up to 1 hour depending on the option you have booked. The stop at St Nicholas Abbey will involve customers that will be doing different options at St Nicholas Abbey. Some customers book the train tour, some the house and some the combo tour. If you are only doing the house or the train there will be some wait time involved until all guest return. It is a very beautiful area and you are welcome to enjoy the surroundings as you wait. If you wish to upgrade your tour to the combo tour the cost will be US$30 per person, please let us know by email and we will reach out to the attraction requesting an upgrade. Please note this is often not available on the same day hence why we advise that at booking the desired option should be selected and we advise of the wait time on the booking page. If the upgrade is available, we will confirm this to your guide who will inform you. If it is not available There is a lovely little cafe that you can sit and relax under the great big trees during this time.
