Private Drive: Trip to Maribor and Ptuj from Vienna
What your day looks like
Maribor It’s the second-largest city in Slovenia and the capital of region Štajerska (Slovenian Styria). Maribor is tucked in between wine-growing hills and the Pohorje Mountains. In its center grows the oldest vine in the world (over 450 years). Old Vine House, a temple of wine tradition and culture, highlights exhibitions and excellent wines. Just north of the river Drava, the Old Town is comprised of noteworthy attractions such as the Castle Square (Grajski Trg), the Main Square (Glavni trg), the Maribor Cathedral (with observation tower), the Maribor Synagogue, as well as art galleries and theaters. Ptuj With evidence of a Stone Age settlement, Ptuj was first recorded as a Celtic stronghold that was conquered by the Romans in the 1st century BC. The town has such a rich history, that it's illegal to dig deeper than a meter, less an artifact be destroyed. Today, the city is a charming throwback to the past, overlooked by its 18th-century castle. Here, visitors will find the largest collection of musical instruments in the country, as well as stupendous views of the town below. Wandering the city streets brings visitors past beautiful landmarks, including a Roman tombstone from the 2nd century, or the Art Nouveau Town Hall. *Optional third party activities such as tours or attraction fees are not included in the price. We can’t guarantee that every attraction will be open for your trip, so we recommend checking the opening hours in advance. *Please note that this experience includes a private driver but it does not include a guide and is not a guided tour.
