Admire the 800-year-old town that boasts one of Austria’s oldest historic town centers and Renaissance courtyards, which today accommodates modern boutiques, stylish bars, and beautiful beer gardens. Explore the famous landmark of the city, the Lindwurm monument, which was begun by Ulrich Vogelsang in 1582 and was completed by his brother Andreas Vogelsang in 1590. The city has been awarded the prestigious award of “Europa Nostra Diploma of Merit” thrice, which is a record for a European city. Learn how the legendary Lindwurm, a Nordic snakelike dragon that supposedly lived near the city, was defeated but survived to this day in the coat-of-arms of the city.

The journey, in full
We will start our tour from the stone sculpture winged dragon fountain known as a landmark of the Carinthian capital city Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. This statue of a mythical creature was created in the 16th century. We will have a view towards the City Main Parish Church of St. Egid one of the oldest and highest churches in Klagenfurt. The church has a 90-meter-long tower its ringing can be heard from afar. The tower provides you with a panoramic view of Lake Wörthersee and Klagenfurt city Head towards the Klagenfurt Cathedral rebuilt in the Baroque style. This is the oldest pillar church in Austria built in 1581 under the architect Christoph Windish's design and dedicated to the Holy Trinity.
