Day 1

As our adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Perth, we leave the bustling city behind and head south. Sit back and enjoy the picturesque views of rolling hills, lush forests, and charming towns as we journey through the Peel region. This area, known for its stunning landscapes and diverse natural attractions, features a delightful mix of coastal scenery, serene rivers, and extensive forests.

Eco Tour. We'll also pass through Mandurah, renowned for its beautiful network of water canals, vibrant waterfront, and abundant wildlife. The canals are home to playful dolphins, graceful pelicans, and a variety of other bird species, offering a unique and scenic experience.

Once we leave the Peel region and Mandurah behind, we'll be on the lookout for a nice café to stop for lunch (not included) in one of the quaint towns from Boyanup to Manjimup. Eco Tour. After our refreshing pause, we continue our journey towards the Diamond Tree, an iconic landmark nestled deep within the majestic Karri Forest. Standing tall at 51 meters, this ancient tree is a sight to behold, offering a unique glimpse into the natural beauty of Western Australia's forests.

Eco Tour. From here, we head into the stunning ancient Gondwanan forests, known for their incredible size and variety. Our route takes us through Tingle Tree Valley, famous for its amazing Eucalyptus tingle trees (Eucalyptus jacksonii). These trees are some of the oldest living trees on Earth, reaching up to 75 meters (246 feet) tall, with distinctive red bark and huge hollow trunks.

Eco Tour. As we explore, we’ll also see other impressive trees like the tall karri (Eucalyptus diversicolor) and southern mahogany (Eucalyptus botryoides). The valley is home to unique wildlife, including the rare western ringtail possum and the colorful red-capped parrot. It's remarkable that this special fauna is found only in this region and nowhere else in the world. The unique soil and climate here support these rare species. Some of the tingle trees have trunks so wide you can walk through them or even have a picnic inside, making for a truly memorable experience in this extraordinary place.

We start with the Tree Top Walk, a thrilling 600-meter walkway that ascends 40 meters above the forest floor, providing stunning views of the towering tingle trees. Next, we explore the Ancient Empire, where you'll walk among the bases of ancient tingle trees, including the impressive 'Grandma Tingle,' offering an intimate look at these natural giants.

On our way, we’ll pass the beginning (or end) of the renowned Munda Biddi Trail, a long-distance hiking trail stretching over 1,000 kilometers. The Torndirrup National Park is a breathtaking coastal wonderland. Known for its dramatic granite formations, rugged cliffs, and stunning ocean views, this park offers visitors a glimpse of nature's raw beauty and power.

Sightseeing at Mulka's Cave. The next day, drive to Mulka's Cave, located about 18 km north of Hyden. The scenic route offers views of rugged landscapes and native bushland. Upon arrival, you'll delve into the Aboriginal legend of Mulka. According to the local Noongar people, Mulka's Cave is named after Mulka, a giant born from a forbidden union. His tragic story serves as a cultural lesson about adhering to traditional laws. Inside the cave, you'll discover ancient Aboriginal hand stencils and other rock art, believed to be thousands of years old. These paintings offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and artistic expression of the Noongar people. While there, you’ll also learn about the six Noongar seasons – Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba, and Kambarang – and how they influence the community's lifestyle and activities throughout the year.

Sightseeing at Wave Rock. After exploring Mulka's Cave and absorbing its rich cultural history, drive back to Hyden to visit the iconic Wave Rock. This impressive natural rock formation, resembling a giant ocean wave, is a perfect spot for photos and exploration. Walking along the base and atop the rock, you’ll appreciate its unique geological features and the striking contrast it creates against the flat landscape. Your visit to Wave Rock will round off a day filled with cultural discovery and natural beauty. Following your visit to Wave Rock, embark on a drive to York, approximately 300 km northwest. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you travel through the picturesque countryside, passing through small towns and vast farmlands. stopping first at the Corrigin Dog Cemetery, a unique tribute to beloved pets. Then visit the Rabbit Proof Fence Gazebo to learn about the historical significance of this extensive barrier.
