Hobart Shore Excursion: Mt. Field National Park & Bonorong Park
What your day looks like
The tour takes you to some of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks” at Mt. Field National Park, just a 1.5 hour drive from Hobart. Depart the Hobart waterfront for a 1.5 hour drive through Hobart and its suburbs following the Derwent River Valley into the heart of Tasmania to Mt Field National Park, Tasmania’s oldest National Park and is most famous for Russell Falls and it’s Tall Trees. In the afternoon after leaving the Filed National Park we will stop to meet some of our local wildlife at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.

The journey, in full
At Mt Field National Park we will walk a series of short walks at Mt. Field following the beautiful forested trails to Russell Falls and Horseshoe Falls. We then head further into the National Park and explore the Tall Trees Track where we walk amongst the Giants of the Forests with the local swamp gums towering 80 meters above. You can enjoy a lunch break in one of the numerous beautiful settings at Mt. Field before continuing onwards for the day. (a stop will be added on route to Mt Field National Park where you will have an opportunity to pick up a takeaway sandwich/roll for a lunch break, optional extra) The next stop is Bonorong Wildlife Park where you can wander amongst and hand feed the local Wallabies, see Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, and many more of our unique local animals. This is a fantastic day out exploring many of Tasmania’s most unique experiences, rainforests, waterfalls, wildlife, and fabulous scenery.
