On Boxing Day (December 26, 2026), this specialized cruise transitions from the high-stakes drama of the starting line in Sydney Harbour to an exhilarating offshore pursuit, following the fleet as they begin their grueling 628-nautical-mile journey to Tasmania. While most spectator vessels are restricted to the harbour, the Ocean Rider is specifically licensed to venture beyond the Sydney Heads. This provides friends and family a unique opportunity to "work back through the fleet" once offshore, offering a final, close-up salute to loved ones as they head into the open Pacific.

The journey, in full
Harbour Strategic Positioning: Board your vessel at King Street Wharf, Darling Harbour. We maneuver into a prime vantage point inside the exclusion zone to witness the 1:00 PM starting gun. Watch the supermaxis and the wider fleet navigate the crowded harbour waters in a forest of sails. The Surge to the Heads: Follow the leaders as they race toward the open sea. From the open observation decks, you’ll have an unobstructed view of the world’s fastest monohulls in full flight before they exit the harbour. The Farewell Maneuver: Once outside the Sydney Heads, the Ocean Rider transitions into "Farewell Mode." We maneuver offshore (weather permitting) to find and salute boats further back in the fleet, allowing for an intimate, water-level final goodbye. Coastal Follow: Travel alongside the fleet for a portion of their coastal transit, witnessing the tactical transition from harbour racing to ocean endurance before the vessel begins its return journey.
