7-Day Kalbarri Coral Coast Walk
What your day looks like
Spanning over 1,000 km of breathtaking coastline from Cervantes to the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef, this tour showcases the region’s pristine beaches, dramatic rock formations, and colorful outback landscapes. Experience iconic attractions such as the Pinnacles, Kalbarri National Park, Shark Bay, and Monkey Mia, while enjoying the added spectacle of Western Australia’s famous wildflower displays. The journey begins in Cervantes, home to the otherworldly Pinnacles Desert, where thousands of limestone pillars rise from the golden sands. Explore this unique landscape and marvel at the eerie beauty of these ancient rock formations before heading further north along the Coral Coast. Next, visit Kalbarri National Park, where you’ll walk through deep gorges, discover stunning coastal cliffs, and view the striking red and white sandstone formations that have been shaped by the elements over millions of years. Enjoy panoramic views from iconic lookouts such as Nature’s Window and the Z-Bend, where the Murchison River has carved its way through the rugged landscape. The tour continues to the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, known for its stunning scenery and rich marine life. At Francois Peron National Park, embark on a 4WD adventure along sandy tracks to where fiery red cliffs meet the turquoise sea, creating a dramatic and unforgettable contrast. The park is also a haven for wildlife, with opportunities to spot dolphins, dugongs, turtles, and rays in the clear waters. One of the highlights of this tour is the scenic flight from Shark Bay to Carnarvon, offering a bird’s-eye view of the region’s spectacular landscapes and saving you half a day of driving. From the air, witness the kaleidoscope of colors as red desert sands merge with the blue ocean, creating a truly mesmerizing sight. The adventure concludes at Ningaloo Reef, where you’ll explore the world’s largest fringing reef and Coral Bay. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel among vibrant coral gardens, swim with tropical fish, and possibly encounter manta rays, turtles, and even whale sharks (seasonal). The underwater world of Ningaloo is a marine paradise, teeming with life and color. Accommodation throughout the tour is carefully selected to provide comfort and luxury, with stays in boutique lodgings that offer a blend of coastal charm and outback hospitality. Each evening, unwind in beautiful surroundings and enjoy gourmet meals that feature fresh local produce, reflecting the flavors of Western Australia. Eco Tour at Nambung National Park. Yued Ponar Trail - Jurien Bay: The Pinnacles are amazing natural limestone structures, formed approximately 25,000 to 30,000 years ago after the sea receded and left deposits of seashells. Over time, coastal winds removed the surrounding sand, leaving the pillars exposed to the elements. After our time exploring The Pinnacles, we’ll drive a further 2 hours to the Yued Ponar Loop Trail. The trail winds its way through a diverse landscape featuring low heath, small sections of Wandoo woodlands, along winding creek lines and up several short, steep slopes to the top of Mt Peron where you are rewarded with spectacular views of the Lesueur NP, all the way to the Indian Ocean. After our glorious day of exploring, we’ll check into our accommodation for the night at Jurien Bay Motel Apartments.

Hiking at Kalbarri National Park. Geraldton - Nature's Window, Kalbarri - Z Bend Lookout: The Loop Trail highlights the erosive power of the Murchison River which has carved magnificent gorges to reveal the red and white banded rock. This trail follows the edge of the cliff, with magnificent views of the river below, before working its way down to the riverbank. The trail continues along the river with sandy beaches, river gums and the possibility of swimming. The trail climbs out of the gorge towards the end, back up to Nature’s Window, a wind-eroded opening in the layered sandstone that frames a view of the river. The geology of the area is fascinating. The thinly bedded, red and white banded rocks through most of the river gorge were deposited millions of years ago on tidal flats. Rippled surfaces can be seen around Nature’s Window. The ripples were formed during ancient times by waves moving over tidal flats in a shallow sea.
