Eco Tour at Cape Raoul. Cape Raoul: Our walk begins at the southern end of the Tasman National Park (at the time of writing, Tasmania’s newest National Park). Beginning with a climb up a shallow gradient, we embark through a wet sclerophyll forest, the canopy dominated by messmate stringybark and Tasmanian blue gum. As we near the top of our ascent, these large eucalypts give way to open woodland, populated by endemic silver peppermints. From here, high atop a 450-metre cliff, we can see all the way out to the end of Cape Raoul and our destination. Next, we descend through a cool, south-facing slope populated by ferns, musk and dogwood, before we reach the plateau of Cape Raoul and the gorgeous, thick coastal heathland. Finally, we will arrive at the tip of the cape, where we are greeted with stunning views of the rugged coast and a small Australian fur seal haul at the base of the cliffs. Upon our return to the car park, where you will meet your local driver, it is but a 25-minute return journey to your accommodation.

Day 2

Port Arthur

Hiking at Freycinet Peninsula. Tasman Coastal Trail: We begin the day with a climb through a mixed forest, punctuated with Tasmanian rainforest species, as we follow a Camp Creek up Lichen Hill. Reaching the summit, we are given wonderful views to the north of Maria Island and the Freycinet Peninsula. Descending the southern side, we trail through remnant myrtle forests, survivors of the 1967 bushfires, which wiped out most of the cloud-induced rainforest that once grew here. The habitat dries out as we once-again reach the coast and travel atop the high cliff-line path, with views out to Cape Hauy and the Hippolyte Rocks. Dropping back down to sea level, in Bivouac Bay, we then climb up and over a hill, into Canoe Bay, where the shipwreck of the William Pitt lies foundered. From here we skirt around the coast, until finding ourselves on the gleaming white sands of the objectively beautiful Fortescue Bay.

Day 3

Port Arthur

Hiking at Tasman National Park (Tasmania). Cape Hauy: Beginning in Fortescue Bay, we head east along the coast of Cape Hauy. Climbing through a habitat of oyster bay pines and native cherry, we eventually reach a plateau, and trail through a heathland of flowers. Coming eventually to a stunning lookout, we are graced with views out to the end of Cape Hauy. Descending and ascending a number of times, we reach the end of the walk, where we find the famous Totem Pole, jutting out from the sea below us, with exceptional views in every direction. Heading back to the carpark you will find your driver who will take you back to the accommodation.

Day 4

Port Arthur

Hiking at Mount Brown (South Australia). Mount Brown and Crescent Bay: Beginning just next to Remarkable Cave, we sidle along the coast, going through beautiful heathlands, which belie the rugged cliffs and pounding swell all around us. Passing over heavily rooted sand dunes, we span a blowhole before coming to the intersection of Mt. Brown and Crescent Bay. Climbing Mt. Brown gives some of the best views the peninsula has to offer nestled, as it is, between Cape Raoul and Cape Pillar. After descending, it is an easy diversion down into Crescent Bay and the beautiful sands and large dunes which loom above it. Heading back to the car park, your driver will meet you and transfer you to the Lavender Farm for a special celebratory lunch.
