Ojo del Albino Glacier Trekking

The journey, in full

The tour starts with the passengers being picked up from our selected hotels around 08 AM. We will travel by minibus about 20 km to the Tierra Mayor valley, where many excursions take place. There, we will find our refuge, from where the trek starts. We will cross peat bogs, streams, and ancient forests of Lehengas and Coihues, typical vegetation of the region. If we`re lucky, there is a possibility to see local wildlife such as foxes, condors, and beavers. We continue walking until reaching the Emerald Lagoon, located in the heart of the Tierra del Fuego Nature Reserve. The color of the water, added to its geographical location, in the middle of the Fuegian Cordillera, invites us to stop to rest on the shore while appreciating the stunning scenery. From this point, begin the ascent along the main tributary river of the lake, which has its source in the Eye of the Albino Glacier, so put the crampons on to begin the exploration of the glacier. We will arrive at the scenic viewpoint of the valley where the Lunch Box is given, so that we can enjoy our meal while observing amazing views from 900 meters above sea level. After lunch, we will continue the journey with stops at scenic spots of striking beauty. Finally, we return to the refuge, by a different path from the one that we took at first, to continue exploring the reservation. Return to our hotels around 06.30 PM.
