Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

This tour will start with hotels pick-up from 9:00 am to the north in order to visit the Jesuit Ranches of Colonia Caroya, Santa Catalina and Jesús María. Their importance is due to the fact that they were declared World Heritage by UNESCO because they were part of the route of the Ancient Royal Road to Upper Peru. Colonia Caroya is a destination that merges regional flavors, wineries and religious circuits, therefore, it is ideal to enjoy nature, local cuisine and to rest. In this case, the visit to this place, will be from the historical and religious perspective. The first stop of the tour will be at the Tourist Interpretation Center and the Jesuit Legacy of Colonia Caroya, where we will be around 15/20 minutes to understand the territorial and historical evolution of the Society of Jesus in this area. Then, we will go to Colonia Caroya Ranch, the first rural establishment created by the Society of Jesus in 1616 and where we will be for about an hour. There we will visit the museum whose rooms will allow us to understand the Jesuit Legacy, its functioning as the "First White Arms Factory" and the important Italian influence. After enjoying some time in this estancia, we will go to Jesús María, land of heritage, culture and history, being one of the most important cities of the province. During the panoramic tour, we will pass through the countryside where the Taming and Folklore Festival of Argentina takes place in January and finally, we will arrive at the Jesuit Estancia Jesús María which dates back to 1618. For about an hour and a half, we will see the museum and its rooms of Cusco`s sacred art, archaeology and ceramics, among others. Around noon, either in Jesus Maria or Colonia Caroya we will have free time to have lunch in a restaurant (lunch not included). After the rest and lunch, we will continue with the trip to arrive at Santa Catalina, an outstanding place in this area for having some outstanding baroque style churches in the province. The Santa Catalina Jesuit Ranch is located in this town, considered the largest architectural complex of the Company outside the city of Cordoba and whose origin dates back to 1622. Once there, we will make a visit of approximately one hour, with a local guide and in this way we will get to know the park, the church and its yards. Finally, after 10 hours of a journey through time, we will return to the city and leave you at your centrally located hotel.
