What your day looks like

Going to Cachi, we will visit the Quebrada de Escoipe and the imposing Cuesta del Obispo. After visiting La Piedra del Molino, you will be passing through the Los Cardones National Park. The small and magical town of Cachi, located at the foot of the snow-capped mountain of the same name, is characterized by its colonial-style facades, with mansions located on the edge of narrow, cobblestone streets. The Salinas Grandes excursion from Salta will allow you to discover the most interesting places. Marvel at the Cerro de los Siete Colores, pose for photos in the striking white salt flats of Salinas Grandes, and shop for souvenirs at the famous Purmamarca crafts market. Let yourself be surprised by natural wonders. Look for colorful crafts at the Purmamarca market on this excursion.

Your day, step by step

Day 1

Salta

Sightseeing at Cuesta del Obispo. Welcome to Argentina! We leave Salta through the Lerma Valley towards the south of the province until we reach the town of El Carril, to turn west and begin heading towards the Quebrada del Escoipe and the first dream landscapes. We have technical stops along the way so passengers can go to the bathroom or buy a snack. Leaving the fertile Valley of Lerma behind, you ascend the Quebrada de Escoipe and then continue along the imposing Cuesta del Obispo and Valle Encantado, surrounded by mountains. After Piedra del Molino (3,400 m.s.n.m.) you cross Los Cardones National Park. Visit grocers and pass through the town where peppers are dried on the side of the road.

Cachi

City/Town Tour. We arrive at noon at the colonial town of Cachi and we will have 2 hours free to have lunch and tour this unique town in northern Argentina. Its cobbled streets with its adobe and cobblestone houses allow you to witness a place left in time, which maintains its primordial essence. In these 2 free hours, you can tour these 10 blocks by 10 blocks that the town offers and try its gastronomic variety native to the region. Then we meet again with the guide to begin the return to Salta.

Before arriving in the city of Salta, we make a technical stop in Chicoana or El Carril to buy a snack or go to the bathroom.

Day 2

Salta

Sightseeing at Cerro de los Siete Colores. We will leave from the city of Salta, leaving through the central access of the city, taking the RN 9 and then entering the municipality of General Güemes, through the RN 34. Later we enter the province of Jujuy, where we will have the opportunity to know a little piece of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, passing through picturesque towns such as Yala, Volcán (technical stop) and Purmamarca where we will find the majestic Cerro de los 7 Colores. We make a small technical stop so that passengers can go to the bathroom or buy some type of snack.

Salta

Sightseeing at Cuesta de Lipán. First stop in the town of Purmamarca to have a panoramic photo from the route, in front of the town, since the position of the sun in the morning radically changes its colors. In this first stop we will be approximately 20 minutes. We enter the incredible Cuesta de Lipán, where we will take 4,170 meters above sea level and we will be able to appreciate its spectacular flora and fauna. It is a winding high mountain road, majestic with its green and brown colors showing us the beautiful landscapes of the puna.

Sightseeing at Salinas Grandes. Salinas Grandes We arrive at the third largest salt flat in Latin America where we will be between 45 minutes to 1 hour free, to be able to tour the salt pools, sculptures, salt restaurant and take incredible photos in this huge salt flat in northern Argentina.

Purmamarca

Leisure. We return to Purmamarca and they will be able to enjoy 2 free hours to tour the beautiful town and have lunch. Imposing hill of 7 colors nestled in the heart of town with its narrow, cobbled streets and adobe and mud houses.

Thank you for visiting! We return to the city of Salta crossing the last of the Quebrada de Humahuaca and its landscapes. We have technical stops along the way in case you want to go to the bathroom, buy something to eat or drink.
