The Experience

What your day looks like

Just 25 minutes from Berat, the peaceful village of Roshnik offers a rare chance to experience rural Albania at its most authentic. Surrounded by rolling green hills and fertile land, Roshnik is a place where nature, tradition, and local life blend seamlessly, inviting visitors to slow down and reconnect with the land. Once part of the ancient Via Egnatia, Roshnik has long welcomed travelers and traders. Today, its mild climate keeps the landscape lush year-round and creates ideal conditions for viticulture. This is the only place in the world where the rare Pules grape is grown, and vineyards stretch across the village as far as the eye can see. A highlight of the experience is meeting the Fiska family, who welcome guests with genuine Albanian hospitality at their family-run agritourism. Your visit begins with a taste of homemade rakia, a traditional fruit brandy produced using recipes passed down through generations. You then explore the family wine cellar and learn about the local winemaking process, followed by a guided wine tasting paired with traditional local liqueurs that reflect the flavors of the region. The experience continues with a relaxing walk through the vineyards and a visit to the rakia distillery, where you discover how this iconic Albanian spirit is crafted. In very rare cases of heavy rain or adverse weather, this part of the visit may be adjusted for safety, as the terrain can become muddy and slippery. To complete the journey, enjoy a rakia tasting with several traditional shots, creating a warm and convivial atmosphere. No visit to Roshnik would be complete without tasting its famous local figs, often served dried and paired with local cheeses and seasonal specialties. It is a simple yet unforgettable moment, perfect for sharing, savoring, and capturing in photos.
