These pieces are more than souvenirs. A portion of proceeds from every purchase supports Lindblad Expeditions’ Artisan Fund, launched in 2007 to empower local artisans by providing training programs, workspaces, equipment and educational opportunities. The model creates a renewable cycle of support and connects you more deeply to the creative traditions of the destinations you explore, and beyond.
On select expeditions, such as voyages in the Galápagos and the Amazon, you may also have opportunities to meet some of the artisans whose work is featured on board. These encounters offer insight into the creative processes and sustainable practices behind the pieces in the Global Galleries, deepening your understanding of the places you visit and the people who call them home.
As you explore remote regions with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, you may have opportunities to meet with people who bring those regions to life through art and handcrafts. The Artisan Fund provides these local creators with resources, training equipment and access to new markets, helping ensure that traditional techniques are preserved and communities can thrive through their work.

• In the Galápagos, artisans turn recycled paper into vibrant beads and jewelry—merging creativity with sustainability.
• In Baja California, a blacksmithing lab supported by the Artisan Fund helps preserve centuries-old local metalworking traditions and expand artisan networks.
• In the Amazon, radio broadcasts funded by the program share sustainable crafting techniques with remote communities. The program funded opportunities for local artisans to develop new business skills and refine their crafting techniques.
• In Alaska and British Columbia, a master Haida weaver worked with a Lindblad Expeditions videographer to document the endangered traditions of spruce root basketry and ensure preservation of this knowledge for future generations.
• In Greenland, an educator-artisan is using new wool-processing equipment supplied by the program to sustain traditional handcrafts and empower local artisans through spinning, weaving and felting workshops.
